Approximately eight civilians were killed and 15 others were injured as Sudanese army (SAF) clashes with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Wednesday in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, according to eyewitnesses.
The eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that El Fasher witnessed heavy artillery shelling on Wednesday, prior to the attack carried out by the RSF and allied forces on Sudanese army positions on the northern axis of the city.
A number of citizens reported to Darfur 24 that at least five civilians were killed and seven others injured in Naivasha camp for displaced persons as a result of artillery shelling that coincided with the RSF’s advance into the camp.
Residents from the Abu Shouk neighborhood of El Hilla confirmed that the ongoing artillery shelling by the RSF from the east and north of the city resulted in three deaths and eight injuries, who were transferred to the Saudi Hospital.
Mayor Mukhtar Adam told Darfur 24 that the death toll from the clashes and artillery shelling among civilians in El Fasher has reached 23.
He noted that the Rapid Support Forces resumed artillery shelling of the city at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, while no information has been received about casualties yet.
Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, the official spokesman for the joint force affiliated with the movements, announced in a statement that the Rapid Support Forces’ attack, which came from three directions, had been repelled, inflicting losses in lives and military equipment.
