Sali, November 03 (Darfur24)

The Sudanese Founding Alliance (TASIS) announced on Tuesday that its forces had taken control of the Sali military base in the Blue Nile region following clashes with the Sudanese army.

In a statement, the alliance said the fighting resulted in deaths, captured soldiers, and the seizure of weapons and military equipment, without providing figures for casualties or losses on either side.

The alliance claimed its forces had secured full control of the base and were continuing to advance towards other areas in the region, without specifying their intended targets. It also pledged to protect civilians in areas under its control and urged residents to stay away from military operation zones.

Fighters affiliated with the alliance, which includes the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, also shared videos on social media claiming to show their presence in Sali, about 60 kilometres from Damazin, the regional capital.

The development follows an announcement by the Sudanese army on Monday that it had repelled an attack by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North on Sali and Bakuri in Qaysan locality.

Sali is considered economically significant because of its mineral resources and gold mining sites.
