An unidentified trader was killed late Sunday night after gunmen stormed his home in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, local sources said.
Sources told Darfur24 that armed men broke into the merchant’s house in the Al-Safa neighborhood in the early hours of Monday and shot him at close range, killing him instantly, before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue at El Geneina Hospital, while security authorities launched procedures to pursue the perpetrators and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
West Darfur State remains under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, amid ongoing security deterioration and repeated incidents of armed violence targeting civilians.
