El Fasher, October 23 (Darfur24)

Sudanese army drones launched intensive airstrikes on several locations in El Fasher, North Darfur, on Thursday, killing and injuring civilians and military personnel, according to local and medical sources.

Medical sources told Darfur24 that several civilians and military personnel were killed when a drone struck parts of the city’s market. The wounded were taken to hospitals in the city, but the sources provided no further details on the casualties.

A resident told Darfur24 that the strikes targeted areas near the Ali Dinar Mosque, the headquarters of the Sixth Infantry Division, the western side of the airport and the Mellit gate, among other locations.

The resident said the attacks targeted combat vehicles belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) inside the city, while additional explosions were heard in surrounding areas.

He added that one drone had flown over El Fasher for more than six hours before and after the strikes, without providing further details.

Residents also reported that the RSF had imposed restrictions on internet access in the city, claiming that access was now limited to intelligence services. They said calls, voice messages and text messages were monitored when users were suspected of raising concerns.

Darfur24 was unable to independently verify the number of people killed or injured or where the wounded were receiving treatment.

The RSF had not commented on the strikes, while Darfur24 was unable to obtain an official response from the Sudanese army.

The RSF has controlled El Fasher since October 2025, following the withdrawal of the Sudanese army and its allied joint force after a siege lasting more than a year and a half.
