Four drones believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck several sites in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, early Sunday, according to local sources.
Sources in the city told Darfur24 that the drones targeted the Sudanese army headquarters and the Ministry of Finance between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. The extent of the damage was not immediately known.
The attacks come amid a recent escalation in drone strikes targeting El Obeid and other parts of North Kordofan, with both military and civilian sites coming under attack.
In June, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights documented 15 drone attacks on El Obeid and surrounding areas that killed 45 civilians and injured 41 others, while noting that the actual toll could be higher.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said the attacks had also targeted markets, schools, fuel stations, water facilities and civilian vehicles across Kordofan.
The UN human rights office reported that at least 13 fuel stations in El Obeid and Al-Rahad were damaged in attacks attributed to RSF drones, warning that damage to critical infrastructure and fuel shortages were further restricting access to water, food, healthcare and transportation.
