Nyala, November 05 (Darfur24)
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has delivered malaria treatment supplies to 765 health facilities across Darfur and West Kordofan, enabling more than 785,000 people to access treatment and over 533,000 to benefit from rapid diagnostic tests.
In a statement, UNICEF said the supplies were delivered with support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria as part of efforts to expand healthcare access for vulnerable communities.
Malaria remains endemic in large parts of Sudan, with outbreaks reported in Darfur and Kordofan. In December 2025, UNICEF reported a significant increase in cases in Tawila and areas around El Fasher in North Darfur, amid rising displacement and growing pressure on health services.
Hospitals and health centres continue to face difficulties obtaining and transporting medical supplies, while insecurity and movement restrictions hamper humanitarian deliveries to affected areas.
