A child was killed and 20 others were injured when a grenade exploded in the Asalaya market in East Darfur State, on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that two young men had a fight at a nightclub inside the market, and one of them detonated a grenade amidst a crowd of people.
The eyewitnesses indicated that the incident resulted in the immediate death of a 13-year-old boy and injuries to 20 others, who were transferred to Al-Daein Teaching Hospital.
Security sources attributed the incident to the widespread availability of grenades among young people, in addition to the presence of Rapid Support fighters who have recently returned from the front lines.
East Darfur State has witnessed a recurrence of similar incidents in markets , with the phenomenon of grenade detonations becoming increasingly common.
