Kadugli, June 09 (Darfur24)

The destruction of a bridge in the Khor al-Dilib area on the main road connecting Dilling and Kadugli has disrupted the movement of passengers and commercial vehicles, raising concerns about access to the city ahead of the rainy season.

Sources in Kadugli told Darfur24 that local authorities and residents established a temporary crossing near the damaged bridge to allow vehicles and trucks to continue using the route.

They warned that traffic could come to a complete halt once seasonal rains begin if the bridge is not rebuilt quickly.

According to local sources, the bridge was destroyed by landmines, although conflicting accounts remain over who was responsible. Some reports blamed an alliance of the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, while others accused the Sudanese army.

The Khor al-Dilib area and surrounding sections of the Dilling–Kadugli road have witnessed repeated clashes between the Sudanese army and the alliance of the Rapid Support Forces and SPLM-N since the route was reopened by the army last month.
