Damazin, April 04 (Darfur24)

The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has reported that more than 10,000 people have been displaced from Kurmuk town in Blue Nile State between mid-February and late March, as security conditions in the area have sharply deteriorated.

According to DTM data, approximately 10,310 individuals, representing 2,062 families, fled Kurmuk between February 14 and March 24 amid escalating clashes.

The Blue Nile region has witnessed increasing tensions in recent weeks following intense fighting between the Sudanese army on one side and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on the other.

Field assessment teams said the majority of displaced people sought refuge in Damazin locality, which received around 7,740 individuals. Others fled to Baw locality, hosting about 2,165 people, while 405 individuals were displaced to Al-Rusayris locality.

The report warned that the situation in Kurmuk remains volatile, raising concerns over further displacement if violence continues.

DTM teams said they will continue monitoring developments and updating displacement figures as the situation evolves across Sudan.
