N’Djamena, January 18 (Darfur24)

Chad’s National Assembly has strongly condemned an armed incursion by elements of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) into Chadian territory, describing it as a serious violation of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The condemnation follows a government announcement on Thursday that seven Chadian soldiers were killed in an armed clash with an unidentified armed group along the Sudan-Chad border. In a statement, the government said the attack targeted Chadian defense and security forces as well as civilians, calling it an unacceptable act of aggression.

The statement also reported repeated violations of Chadian airspace by Sudanese armed forces, warning that these actions further complicate and worsen the already fragile security situation along the border.

The National Assembly described the incursions as premeditated and said they pose a direct threat to peace and security. It stressed that such actions constitute a clear breach of international law and the principles governing relations between states.

The Assembly called on the Chadian people to maintain national unity and rally behind constitutional institutions, while urging the government to continue efforts to safeguard territorial integrity and national sovereignty against any attempts at destabilization.
