Al-Obayed, December 28
(Darfur24) On Saturday, the Sudanese Armed Forces regained control of the Al-Dankoj area, located north of Al-Obayed city in North Kordofan State, hours after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seized it in a surprise attack launched in the early morning hours.
Military sources told Darfur24 that the RSF attacked the Al-Dankoj area using approximately sixty armored vehicles, following withdrawal of the Sudanese Armed Forces, and subsequently, the Armed Forces launched a counterattack using heavy artillery and drones, resulting in the recapture of the area after several hours of fighting.
The Al-Dankoj area is located about 25 kilometers north of Al-Obayed city and holds significant strategic importance as it contains one of the most important water stations supplying the city, making it a sensitive military target within the context of the ongoing conflict.
