El Obeid, November 25(Darfur24)  The security cell in El Obeid arrested Muhannad Hassan Issa, an activist with the El Obeid Resistance Committees, on Saturday, November 22, without providing any reason for the arrest.

According to sources close to Issa who spoke to Darfur24, a security force raided his home in the Karima neighborhood and took him to the security cell’s premises without presenting an arrest warrant or providing any justification for the arrest.

The sources added that Issa’s family tried to find out where he was taken, but received no information from the local authorities.

The Karima neighborhood resistance committees in El Obeid said in a statement yesterday, Monday, that the security cell arrested their member, Muhannad, and took him to their premises after transferring him to the security apparatus headquarters on Monday.

The resistance committees demanded the immediate release of Muhannad Hassan Issa and held the authorities responsible for his well-being.

Issa’s family remains in a state of extreme anticipation and anxiety due to the absence of any official information about his situation or the charges against him, while calls are escalating for community and human rights pressure to stop what they described as “systematic violations” against civil activism in the state.
