Chadian security forces detained two Sudanese traders in the border town of Adre on Friday after they crossed the border to sell two shipments of peanuts.
Sources told Darfur 24 that the two Sudanese traders, who export peanuts to Chad, were detained by Chadian security forces under mysterious circumstances after crossing the border.
The sources indicated that after the traders completed their border-related paper work procedures and entered the Adre market, they were summoned to a nearby office and then sent to other offices.
In a related development, a relative of the detained traders told Darfur 24 that they were informed by a Chadian officer that the traders would be set free in exchange for the release of four Sudanese youths detained by Sudanese authorities in the Sudanese city of Nyala.
He added, “The Chadian officer has (a blood relationship )with the Sudanese youths detained in Nyala, and he is working to resolve the issue by releasing the Sudanese traders in exchange for the release of his relatives.”
