January 26, 2025 Al-Kuma – Darfur24 The Army launched two airstrikes on Sunday on the city of El-Kouma in North Darfur, western Sudan, resulting in the injury of seven people and burning of 19 houses.
Hassan Adam, a resident of the city, told “Darfur24” that the Sudanese Army’s warplanes carried out an airstrike on several neighborhoods of the city on Sunday morning with more than eight shells.
He pointed out that the aircraft returned in the evening to launch another airstrike, which resulted in injury of three children and four women and destruction of 19 houses after they caught fire.
The last airstrike on El-Kouma in December resulted in nine deaths and 11 injuries among civilians, most of whom were children, women, and the elderly.
Omda (mayor) of El-Kuma, Ibrahim Idris Ibrahim, previously told “Darfur24” that the warplanes had bombed the town more than 74 times since October 4, with more than 250 shells.
He pointed out that the warplanes bombed the town’s water source last November, completely destroying it, and also bombed dozens of houses and institutions, completely destroying the infrastructure, including schools and service institutions.
The warplanes launched airstrikes on the town of El-Kuma on October 4, resulting in 61 deaths and about 200 injuries, according to statistics from the rural hospital in the town.
The tribal administration of Ziyadiya tribe reported last October that the warplanes had launched more than 70 airstrikes on the town since the outbreak of the war in April 2023.
