Nyala, February 16 (Darfur24)
The parallel government announced Monday that it has completed technical, administrative, and security preparations to hold the 2026 Sudanese Certificate examinations in areas under its control.
The administration formed by the Sudanese Constituent Alliance, often referred to as the “established” government, oversees territories that include most of Darfur, West Kordofan, and parts of North and South Kordofan.
In a statement, the cabinet said preparations were finalized to allow all eligible students to sit for the exams, including those who were previously unable to do so during the years of conflict. It pledged to provide fair opportunities and to safeguard students’ access to university education within institutions administered by the parallel government.
According to the statement, the cabinet will coordinate with the technical supervisory committee for examinations to manage student registration, organize exam centers, publish schedules, and supervise the examination process to ensure transparency, equal opportunity, and safety for both students and staff.
Officials said the government had undertaken extensive efforts to restart the education sector and establish conditions for its continuity despite ongoing war-related challenges.
Separately, Sudan’s Ministry of Education announced that the national certificate examinations will take place on April 13, 2026, in states considered secure and under army control.
Thousands of students living in western regions controlled by the Rapid Support Forces face security and logistical obstacles in reaching designated exam centers. Local sources say movement restrictions imposed in those areas have complicated travel to army-held territories, with reports of detentions and financial penalties affecting civilians attempting to cross.
