About 1,180 people were displaced from the villages of Halla Saleh and Kalkal in Al-Fashir locality, North Darfur State, between September 10 and 13 due to deteriorating security, according to the International Organization for Migration’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (IOM-DTM).
The displaced families fled to Tawila locality, where successive waves of displacement have placed growing pressure on already limited humanitarian services and resources.
IOM said its field teams continue to monitor displacement and population movements across Sudan amid ongoing insecurity and volatile conditions.
Tawila has become a major destination for displaced people in North Darfur, with hundreds of thousands of people sheltering there as of September. New arrivals have continued to flee fighting, insecurity, drought and worsening living conditions.
North Darfur is also facing severe food insecurity, with conflict disrupting markets, supply routes and agricultural production. Food security assessments have warned of continued emergency conditions and a risk of famine in the state amid rising food and fuel prices and limited access to food and basic services.
