Tawila, December 18 (Darfur24)

A fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon at a camp housing displaced people who fled El Fasher, located in the village of Dali in Tawila locality, destroying about 87 shelters and causing significant material losses.

Aisha Ishaq, a displaced resident of the camp, told Darfur24 that the fire started in one shelter before rapidly spreading to neighboring shelters.

She said around 87 shelters were destroyed, with no casualties reported.

Ishaq appealed to humanitarian organizations to urgently provide assistance to affected families, including shelter tents and heating supplies, as winter approaches.

Darfur24 observed dozens of families forced to sleep in the open following the fire.
