Damazin, August 11 (Darfur24)
The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) on Tuesday announced that its forces had captured Qaysan, about 170 kilometers southeast of Damazin in Blue Nile State, following fighting with the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied forces.
In a statement, TASIS said its forces had taken control of military positions in the town and seized weapons and military equipment, which it said were being inventoried and documented.
The alliance also claimed to have pursued withdrawing forces and inflicted casualties and equipment losses, without providing figures.
TASIS described the capture of Qaysan as a new phase in its military operations and pledged to secure the town and surrounding areas and provide basic services to residents.
Qaysan is a border town in Blue Nile State, which has recently witnessed renewed fighting between the Sudanese army and allied forces on one side and “Tasis” forces on the other.
