Nyala, October 16 (Darfur24)
Sudan’s Founding Alliance (TASIS) plans new tax and revenue policies, including a resource-sharing arrangement between the central government and local authorities, to unify financial accounts and strengthen oversight of public revenues.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi announced the plans while addressing supporters of the alliance in Buram locality, south of Nyala. He said the government was committed to improving revenue management, introducing a new tax collection system and abolishing paper receipts in favour of electronic records to ensure that every payment is documented.
Al-Ta’aishi said the proposed policies would establish a mechanism for sharing revenues between the central government and local authorities while clarifying each party’s responsibilities for service delivery and development projects.
He said executive directors, revenue departments, and other relevant authorities would have to implement the new procedures, stressing that the government would act against corruption.
“There is no new Sudan if corruption exists,” Al-Ta’aishi said, adding that he would not tolerate the exploitation of public resources for personal gain.
The announcement comes as the Ministry of Finance in the founding government works to develop coordination mechanisms with civil administrations across the states to strengthen oversight of public funds and unify financial accounts.
