Karnoi, October 15 (Darfur24)
One person was killed and five others injured in a drone strike that targeted the town of Furawiya in Karnoi locality, North Darfur State, on Wednesday evening, according to the town’s emergency room. Four civilian vehicles were destroyed in the attack.
In a statement published on Facebook and seen by Darfur24, the Furawiya Emergency Room said the strike occurred at around 7 p.m. Sudan time and targeted five civilian vehicles transporting goods and supplies between markets in the region.
Four of the vehicles, which were carrying essential food items, including flour, sugar, onions and dates, were destroyed, while the fifth sustained partial damage, the statement said. The injured were taken to Al-Tina Hospital across the border in Chad for treatment.
The emergency room said the attack caused widespread fear among residents and traders, disrupted commercial activity and brought buying and selling at Furawiya market to a halt.
It added that the area had remained relatively calm since Thursday morning, with reduced drone activity and a gradual, cautious resumption of civilian movement.
The emergency room appealed to humanitarian and human rights organizations, as well as the North Darfur Emergency Rooms Coordination Council, to provide food assistance and help address shortages caused by the destruction of goods and supplies.
It also called for safe humanitarian corridors to aid relief delivery to displaced people and other affected communities, alongside healthcare support and essential winter supplies, particularly blankets and warm clothing for children and older people living in valleys and surrounding mountainous areas.
Karnoi, Ambro and the border town of Al-Tina are among the areas in Darfur that remain under the control of the Sudanese army and allied joint forces, according to the report. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied groups took control of most other major cities in the region, including El Fasher, in October 2025.
Since the war began in April 2023, drones have increasingly been used by the warring parties in attacks on military positions and populated areas across several Sudanese states.
