At least one person was killed in a drone attack on a fuel station in Damazin, Blue Nile State, on Sunday night, before the strikes extended to the city’s airport and the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that a drone struck the Al-Asfiya fuel station near Blue Nile University, killing Ismail Mun Jaber, a guard at the station.
They said another fuel station near the university was also targeted, along with the Nawafel Al-Shaheed station in the city market, where two people were reportedly killed near the facility.
The witnesses said the attack also targeted Damazin Airport and the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division.
The strikes caused panic among residents, prompting authorities to increase military deployments across the city.
The Civil Society Initiative in Blue Nile condemned the targeting of civilian facilities, including fuel stations, saying the attacks had intimidated residents and endangered their lives and property.
Damazin has been periodically targeted by drone attacks. Sudanese authorities have previously accused Ethiopia of launching some of the attacks from its territory.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and its ally, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), have been blamed for the latest attacks, although Darfur24 could not independently verify the allegation.
