Nyala, March 19 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have released several detainees in South Darfur State following local mediation led by a representative of the Sultan of Daju, with the participation of community leaders.

Local sources told Darfur24 that those released included Mohamed Abdullah Hamdo and Abulqasim Abdulrahman Dardouk, who were arrested at the end of February on accusations of communicating with the Sudanese army.

The sources said the release was carried out without any payment, after direct intervention by community leaders and the families of the detainees.

They added that the health condition of those released had deteriorated during their detention, requiring their transfer to health facilities for treatment after their release.

The RSF, in coordination with the Federal Police, had previously conducted a wave of arrests in Bilel locality targeting teachers and community figures, many of whom were later released through similar mediation efforts.
