Kordofan, February 12 (Darfur24)
Drone attacks over two days targeted religious, educational, and service facilities in several cities across North and South Kordofan, leaving civilians dead or injured and damaging key infrastructure, according to local sources.
The strikes were attributed by witnesses to drones believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces, an allegation the group denied.
Sources in Al-Rahad Abu Dakna told Darfur24 that drones bombed the Sheikh Ahmed Al-Badawi Al-Tijani Quranic schools inside the city on Wednesday morning, killing two students and injuring 19 others. Four of the injured were reported in critical condition and transferred to Al-Abyad for treatment.
Residents said the strike triggered panic, noting that the site is a prominent religious center hosting a large number of students.
Additional sources reported that drones also struck a Zain telecommunications tower in the village of Tendelti, located west of Al-Rahad Abu Dakna, causing direct damage and disrupting communications services in the area.
In Dilling, local sources reported that a suicide drone, believed by witnesses to be linked to the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, targeted the Ali Al-Karrar School and the primary education office, causing significant material damage. No confirmed casualty reports were immediately available.
The Rapid Support Forces’ official spokesperson denied involvement in the Dilling attack in a statement obtained by Darfur24, accusing the Sudanese armed forces of conducting disinformation campaigns aimed at damaging the group’s reputation.
Meanwhile, sources in Kadugli said drones struck several locations in the city on Tuesday, including the residence of the state health minister. Darfur24 could not independently confirm whether the strikes caused civilian casualties due to communication disruptions linked to restrictions on satellite internet services.
Similarly, local sources reported a renewed wave of displacement from Kadugli in recent days despite a brief period of relative stability following the arrival of commercial supply trucks. Civilians have reportedly been leaving the city by truck toward North Kordofan, passing through Dilling and Al-Rahad Abu Dakna.
