Al-Daein, June 29 (Darfur24)

Seven detainees accused of murder and financial crimes escaped from a police detention facility in Abu Karinka locality, East Darfur State, after breaking out of their holding cells, multiple sources said on Monday.

Sources within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which administers the police station, told Darfur24 that the escapees include three suspects accused of premeditated murder, while the remaining detainees face charges related to looting and fraud.

The sources said the suspects escaped after breaking into the detention facility. They did not disclose whether any of the fugitives had been recaptured or whether an investigation had been launched.

East Darfur State is under the control of the RSF.

The “Establishment” government, formed by the RSF and its allies to administer territories under their control, is seeking to establish a new judicial and law enforcement system in those areas.
