Zalingi, November 19 (Darfur24)

Medical sources in Zalingi, the capital of Central Darfur State, say that at least six deaths and more than 700 measles cases have been recorded at Zalingi Teaching Hospital.

The sources noted that November has witnessed a rise in measles infections, with several patients transferred to the hospital’s isolation center.

A medical source told Darfur24 that six deaths were recorded within one month, while 25 patients have recovered out of 675 monitored cases. He added that the cumulative number of measles cases had reached 706 as of mid-November.

The source appealed to humanitarian agencies and health organizations to urgently intervene and provide the necessary support to contain the spread of the epidemic.
