Al Daein, July 26(Darfur24)
An official with the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency in East Darfur State said on Saturday that an airstrike on Al Fula in West Kordofan disrupted the arrival of an aid convoy to Lagawa.
Last Monday, Al Fula was subjected to an airstrike by a suicide drone targeting the city’s fuel market, resulting in human and material losses attributed to the army.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Darfur 24 that the airstrike prevented two trucks carrying humanitarian aid from reaching the city of Lagawa in West Kordofan.
He indicated that the trucks carrying relief supplies were attacked by army drones in the city of Al-Fula, but were not damaged or destroyed.
He explained that the airstrikes forced the convoy to retreat west to Al-Da’ein in East Darfur State, which borders West Kordofan.
He stated that more than 20 relief trucks containing food and medical supplies arrived from the Adre border crossing between Sudan and Chad to the city of Al-Fula, en route to the Lagawa area, which is experiencing a severe food shortage.
Darfur 24 was unable to obtain immediate comment from SAF .
Many areas in West Kordofan State are suffering from severe food shortages due to the spread of the conflict to the Greater Kordofan region, with increasing displacement and job losses.
