Kabkabiya, October 11 (Darfur24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have continued a large-scale recruitment campaign in Kabkabiya, 155 kilometers west of El Fasher in North Darfur State, over the past several months, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
As part of the campaign, the RSF has opened a training camp for new recruits inside the industrial school building on the western side of the city.
A witness told Darfur24 that the camp was established approximately four months ago, coinciding with the escalation of fighting in El Fasher and the suspension of military air operations in the area. He added that dozens of young men have already joined the training center.
Another local source said that hundreds of youths were mobilized from Saraf Omra, Al-Sarif Bani Hussein, and Kabkabiya, along with several defectors from the Revolutionary Awakening Council led by Musa Hilal.
The source added that the industrial school, once a center for vocational training, has been completely converted into a military camp under the supervision of RSF Commander Abdullah Maala. Most of the recruits are allegedly between 16 and 18 years old.
Kabkabiya has been under RSF control since 2023, following the withdrawal of the Sudanese Armed Forces to the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
