Nyala, June 28(Darfur 24)
Consistent sources and eyewitnesses reported on Saturday that a drone targeted Rapid Support Forces (RSF) forces in the city of Nyala, South Darfur State.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that a drone “bombed the dormitory of Nyala University students in the Musaya suburb, south of Nyala.”
They reported hearing a loud explosion and plumes of smoke rising from the direction of Nyala University.
A witness close to the university site revealed extensive damage to the dormitory wall, which is a multi-story building.
He explained that the explosion caused panic among residents and caused strong shaking of buildings, doors, and windows. He noted that there were no civilian casualties.
A medical source also told Darfur 24 that injured RSF personnel arrived at the Turkish hospital around 10:00 a.m. following the explosion.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have converted the dormitory and other facilities of Nyala University, which covers an area of more than 4,000 square meters, into a headquarters for the assembly and training of conscripts.
Drones have recently targeted vital sites in the city of Nyala, which is under the control of the RSF, and several other towns in South Darfur State.
