Sudan’s under-20 national team won the East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Championship after defeating Tanzania 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the final in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.
Sudan secured the title after a closely contested match that remained level at the end of regulation time before the decisive penalty shootout.
Goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Mustafa played a key role in the victory, delivering a strong performance and helping Sudan win the shootout.
Sudan reached the final after beating Uganda 3-2 in the semi-final.
The championship victory also secured Sudan a place in the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals in Ghana.
