Dilling, May 08 (Darfur24)
Violent clashes erupted on Wednesday and Thursday in and around the village of Al-Tukma, east of Dilling in South Kordofan State, between the Sudanese army and forces allied with the Rapid Support Forces, leaving casualties and material losses on both sides, according to field sources.
Sources told Darfur24 that fighting began Wednesday morning and continued intermittently inside and around the village, though no confirmed casualty figures were immediately available.
In a statement published on its official website, the SPLM-North, allied with the “TASIS” coalition, said its forces had repelled an attack launched by the Sudanese army on Al-Tukma village, claiming the attacking forces suffered “heavy losses in personnel and equipment.”
The movement added that its forces remain in control of the entrances to Dilling city and continue to block the strategic road linking Dilling and Kadugli.
The Sudanese army has not issued any official statement regarding the clashes or the claims made by the SPLM-N.
Al-Tukma village lies approximately 14 kilometers east of Dilling. It is connected by secondary roads to Habila, Al-Rahad Abu Dakna, and several other areas in South Kordofan, making it a strategically important location in the ongoing conflict.
The clashes come amid growing military escalation across Kordofan, where the Sudanese army, the Rapid Support Forces, and allied armed groups continue to battle for control of key towns and supply routes.
