Dongola, May 01 (Darfur24)

Authorities began relocating displaced families stranded in Al-Dabba locality to a newly established camp in East Dongola this week, in an initial effort to ease pressure on overcrowded sites.

The transfer to the new camp was carried out in the presence of officials from Northern State and representatives linked to the Darfur regional administration.

According to a statement from the Humanitarian Aid Commission, around 200 families were moved on Thursday in the first phase after preparations were completed to receive displaced people fleeing conflict-affected areas.

The operation was attended by the Northern State Minister of Social Affairs, the state’s Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, the Executive Director of Dongola locality, and a coordinator from the Darfur regional authorities.

The commission expressed appreciation to Northern State authorities, particularly the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, for facilitating the relocation and supporting displaced communities.

It also acknowledged the role of humanitarian partners, including the Red Crescent in Northern State and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, in assisting.

The commission called on aid organizations to scale up their response and coordinate closely with local authorities to address growing humanitarian needs and ensure the delivery of essential services.
