Singo, April 27 (Darfur24)
Al-Junaid Multi-Activities Company, affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has suspended operations at gold mining sites in Singo, South Darfur State, following a series of air raids that struck its main facilities last week.
The strikes targeted the company’s headquarters at the Aghbash mine, killing and injuring engineers, workers, and affiliated personnel, and destroying several vehicles, according to eyewitnesses. The wounded were transported to Nyala for treatment.
Local sources told Darfur24 that the bombardment hit multiple sections of the site, including the gold processing plant, warehouses, and key machinery, rendering the site nonfunctional.
Two additional sources reported that the site was hit again later the same day, after drones were seen circling the area for more than two hours, triggering panic among miners before further strikes were launched.
The Aghbash facility has been targeted in previous air raids by Sudanese army aircraft, which had earlier forced a temporary shutdown of operations before activity resumed in November last year.
The latest strikes mark a renewed escalation in attacks on economically significant sites in South Darfur.
