Nyala, April 02 (Darfur24)

The head of the Presidential Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance, (TASIS) Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has issued a decision to form an Interim Judicial Council, as part of efforts to build parallel state institutions.

The decision appoints 11 members to the council, headed by Omar Jadu Hamed Juma, with David Koko Toto Abdullah as deputy, alongside other members drawn from legal and administrative backgrounds.

According to the decision, the council will oversee the nomination of the Chief Justice, Attorney General, and members of the Constitutional Court, in addition to taking steps to complete the structure of the judicial authority and support the functioning of transitional justice institutions.

The council is expected to remain in place until permanent judicial bodies are established and relevant laws governing the judiciary, prosecution, and the Constitutional Court are enacted.

The Presidential Council said the move is part of broader efforts to rebuild the judicial system and ensure its independence during the transitional phase.

TASIS was formed by an alliance that includes the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N, led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, operating in parallel to the Sudanese army-backed government.
