Port Sudan, March 11 (Darfur24)
Massad Boulos, adviser to the U.S. president for the Middle East and Africa, said that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had trained and supported fighters linked to the Al-Bara’ bin Malik Brigade, which is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan.
Boulos wrote in a post on the X platform that the Al-Bara’ bin Malik Brigade is “a group responsible for horrific abuses against civilians in Sudan.”
Last Monday, the United States announced the designation of the Sudanese Islamic Movement as a terrorist organization and included the Al-Bara’ bin Malik Brigade on its terrorism list.
Boulos said the move is “an important step toward holding perpetrators of unchecked violence accountable,” including summary executions targeting civilians based on race or ethnic origin.
He added that the measures “underscore that the United States remains committed to disrupting the Iranian regime’s efforts to perpetuate bloodshed in the Middle East and beyond.”
