Dilling, March 04 (Darfur24)
The city of Dilling in South Kordofan State has come under continuous military attacks for the third consecutive day, from Sunday to Tuesday, with residents accusing the Rapid Support Forces of coordinating the assault with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North.
Mohammed Abdel Rahman told Darfur24 that artillery shelling targeted neighborhoods from the northern and southern directions at dawn on Tuesday, spreading fear among residents as explosions echoed across the city for hours.
Hamouda Ali said Sunday’s attack was the most intense, involving drone strikes and heavy artillery, followed by a ground offensive from the north. He said the attacking forces advanced as far as the Fanda neighborhood before clashes erupted near residential areas. The Sudanese army later repelled the assault and pushed the attackers back north, he added.
On Monday, shelling resumed from the northern and western axes, striking Janjar, Al-Marafid, Al-Hilla Al-Jadeeda, Al-Turuq, and Bella neighborhoods. Residents reported civilian casualties and damage to homes due to direct hits.
Dilling has faced repeated drone strikes since the army announced it had lifted the siege on February 3, with recent weeks witnessing dozens of civilian deaths and injuries.
