El Fasher, February 14 (Darfur24)
Doctors and humanitarian workers warned Saturday that deaths are being recorded daily among patients and wounded civilians trapped in health facilities and detention centers in El Fasher, North Darfur State, amid a worsening collapse of medical services.
Medical sources told Darfur24 that patients and injured people are dying each day in hospitals and detention sites, particularly in the Al-Rashid dormitory at El Fasher University, where large numbers of wounded civilians are being held without adequate treatment.
A medical worker said the deaths are linked to severe complications caused by the absence of proper healthcare, warning that limited access to treatment continues to threaten the lives of more patients and injured people.
Humanitarian workers confirmed that the city’s health situation is steadily deteriorating due to shortages of medical staff and essential supplies. One worker noted that although months have passed since the Rapid Support Forces took control of the city following battles with the Sudanese army and allied joint forces, hospitals remain critically under-equipped to treat the sick and wounded.
According to the sources, hundreds of war-wounded civilians are facing worsening health conditions because of a lack of surgical materials and qualified personnel. They added that earlier attacks on government facilities, particularly hospitals, before the city’s fall contributed to the near-total breakdown of healthcare services.
Medical and humanitarian workers stressed that El Fasher is experiencing a severe health crisis driven by shortages of medicines, equipment, and care capacity, resulting in escalating medical complications among patients and the wounded.
