Kordofan, January 22 (Darfur24)

A series of armed robberies and roadside attacks in rural West Kordofan State has left civilians injured and stripped of their belongings, raising concerns over deteriorating security conditions in the region.

Sources told Darfur24 that residents of Um Sabagha village were robbed last week while returning from Abu Mariqa village, north of Al-Nuhud city, after being intercepted by an armed group riding six tuk-tuks. Similar incidents were reported in areas surrounding Al-Ruwayana village.

In a separate attack, Abu Seil Muhammad, a trader, was assaulted while returning from Al-Janana market to Wad Salman village in Wad Banda locality. He was robbed and shot, sustaining injuries, and the assailants seized cash estimated at five million Sudanese pounds.

Meanwhile, residents of Al-Sudairat, Al-Dam Jamad, and Al-Zarnakh villages reported repeated looting incidents carried out by armed men operating a Land Cruiser vehicle, which they said has targeted civilians on roads linking the villages.

Sources also reported that an armed confrontation recently erupted between traders and a gang on the road connecting Ghabish city and Al-Janana village, resulting in injuries on both sides.

The incidents come amid deteriorating security conditions in rural West Kordofan and increasing complaints from residents over the absence of protection and persistent violations against civilians. Locals warn that continued attacks are worsening humanitarian conditions and disrupting trade and movement between villages.
