N’Djamena, January 20(Darfur24)The Deputy Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Lieutenant General Abdel Rahim Dagalo, travelled to Chad to deescalate tensions following the incursion of his forces into the neighboring country and the participation of Chadian soldiers in clashes alongside the joint force.

The Chadian government stated on Friday that the RSF had crossed the border and carried out an armed operation that resulted in the death of seven soldiers and injuries to others, emphasizing that it would not allow the war in Sudan to be exported to its territory.

Sources told Darfur24 on Monday that Abdul Rahim Dagalo urgently left for Chad in an attempt to contain the tension.

They indicated that he informed Chadian officials during the visit of information suggesting the participation of Chadian soldiers in the battle of Jarjira.

On its side , the leadership in N’Djamena responded that their presence was part of the tribal mobilization taking place in eastern and northeastern Chad.

The Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) incursion into Chad and the ensuing battles in the Jarjira and Kornowe areas near the border have caused heightened security tensions, especially given the intensified military movements and preparations for potential clashes between the RSF and the Chadian army, supported by the joint force.

The sources stated that the tension escalated after the RSF seized control of the Abu Qumra and Jarjira areas, located within the region known as “Dar Zaghawa” in the far northwest of North Darfur State. However, this contributed to the heightened tribal mobilization in the area.

The sources confirmed that the battles in the Jarjira area ended with the RSF taking control, while pursuing the remaining elements, from the joint force inside Chadian territory.

Field commanders from the Rapid Support Forces posted videos confirming that their forces had advanced nearly ten kilometers into Chadian territory.

One of them stated that elements of the Chadian army participated in the battle of jirjira, indicating that his forces possessed evidence to support this.

Media platforms also circulated images of military vehicles bearing Chadian license plates, reportedly destroyed during the same battle.

Other sources told Darfur24 that a state of alert was declared within some Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, where elements were being mobilized to join the fighting in the Tina area, which is considered one of the last strongholds of the joint force on the border with Chad.

The sources indicated that the Chadian authorities, in an attempt to control the security situation and curb the instability and movement of armed groups, replaced a number of army and security officials in eastern Chad.

Meanwhile, sources told Darfur24 that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have deployed significant military reinforcements to the areas surrounding the town of Al-Tina, as preparations continue for a potential attack.

The sources reported that RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” issued strict orders to his forces to exercise restraint and refrain from committing any violations against civilians.

According to the same sources, the force attacking Al-Tina is being led by RSF officers of Dar Zaghawa origin, along with commanders from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) faction led by Suleiman Sandal and the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance (SLA) led by Al-Tahir Hajar – all within the framework of the “Sudan Founding” alliance.

There are growing fears that the conflict could escalate into a cross-border tribal confrontation, given the fragile security situation and the complex interplay of tribal, political, and military factors between Sudan and Chad.
