El-Obeid, December 30 (Darfur24)
Sources in El-Obeid told Darfur24 that Professor Abdul Wahab Mohamed Hashim, known as “Bob,” head of the Trade Union Association of Workers in North Kordofan State, has been released after nearly three months in detention.

Security forces arrested Abdul Wahab on September 22 in Al-Obeid following his objection to the state governor’s decision to hand over leadership of the union council to the former executive elected in 2015, whose mandate expired in 2020.
According to the sources, Abdul Wahab rejected involving the union in political activities, noting that its membership includes individuals from diverse political backgrounds. His position was shared in a voice message circulated among union members via a WhatsApp group.
In a related development, the same sources confirmed the release of Muhannad Hassan Issa, a member of the resistance committees in El-Obeid, after more than a month in detention by a security cell.
Sources said Issa was released after being required to sign a pledge not to publish content related to El-Obeid on his personal social media accounts. He was arrested on November 22, without authorities providing clear reasons.
Separately, in Kadugli, sources told Darfur24 that Professor Abdul Rahim Hamed Mohamed Ali was released after two weeks in detention.
According to the sources, a force from the General Intelligence Service arrested Abdul Rahim from his home in Kadugli, South Kordofan State, on December 13, without disclosing the reasons for his arrest.
