Abeché, November 21 (Darfur24)
Chadian authorities have prohibited the use of posters, images, and symbols associated with Sudanese military figures or any representation that could be interpreted as support for either side of the conflict in Sudan.
Sources told Darfur24 that the governor of Abeché in eastern Chad, Abdul Wahid Mohamed Daoud, issued a directive banning stickers and photos of Sudanese military leaders on all types of vehicles, including cars and rickshaws, as well as forbidding any public displays linked to the Sudanese war.
The decision was announced during a meeting held by the governor with representatives of rickshaw drivers’ unions, neighborhood leaders, and civil society organizations in the Ouaddai region.
Local authorities said the move aims to reduce factors that could heighten tensions or threaten stability in the region, particularly in light of recent developments in El Fasher and the growing influx of Sudanese refugees entering Chad.
The Ouaddai region, whose capital is Abeché, borders Sudan and hosts a significant number of refugee camps accommodating those fleeing the ongoing conflict.
