Tawila, November 20 (Darfur24)
Volunteers in the emergency room in Tawila, one of the largest displacement hubs in the Darfur region, are continuing to provide meals to thousands of people fleeing El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
Abdul Salam Adam Jibril, a volunteer, told Darfur24 that the team has been serving meals to new arrivals since late October without interruption, both in Tawila and at displacement gathering sites in Dabba Nayra.
Jibril said the emergency room currently operates 10 kitchens and has begun a field survey of new gathering points west of Dabba Nayra to assess needs. He added that plans are underway to add five more kitchens to meet the increasing number of displaced families.
Darfur24 observed hundreds of new arrivals, mostly women and children, queuing for food assistance.
