Bara, November 10 (Darfur24)

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Sunday that nearly 2,000 people have been displaced from villages and the town of Bara in North Kordofan state due to escalating insecurity.

The affected villages include Umm Sayala, Kura Bara, Sukrah, and Alwan. Displaced residents have reportedly fled to various areas in Omdurman locality in Khartoum State and Sheikan locality in North Kordofan.

The IOM noted that this recent displacement follows a series of incidents in Bara, Sheikan, Al Rahad, Umm Ruwaba, and Umm Dam Haj Ahmed, which forced an estimated 38,990 people to leave their homes between October 26 and November 9, 2025. The organization stressed that the situation in the region remains tense and unstable.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seized control of Bara on October 25 after Sudanese army forces withdrew following fierce fighting. Last October, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights reported receiving allegations of summary executions of civilians in Bara by RSF fighters after they took control of the city.
