Al-Nuhud, October 30 (Darfur24)
Residents of Al-Nuhud city and the nearby town of Al-Qurzi in West Kordofan State have complained of a severe shortage of medicines and medical services, amid reports of rising deaths among people suffering from chronic illnesses.
A patient, who requested anonymity for security reasons, told Darfur24 that diabetes and hypertension medications are largely unavailable in Al-Nuhud’s rural areas, adding that most local health centers lack doctors.
Another resident, identified as “A.N.”, recounted his struggle to obtain psychiatric medication for his brother. “At first, I could find small quantities, but now the medicine has completely disappeared. My brother needs a dose every five days, and I have no idea what to do,” he said.
Local sources told Darfur24 that deaths among patients with chronic diseases have increased significantly in recent weeks due to medicine shortages, poor storage of available supplies, and the absence of essential drugs in most pharmacies.
