The Governor of the White Nile State, Lieutenant General Qamar al-Din Mohamed Fadl al-Mawla, and a delegation from the General Administration of Border Crossings and Ports discussed the technical and administrative arrangements for establishing border trade ports with the aim of resuming border trade with South Sudan.
The governor explained in a press statement that the establishment of trade ports with South Sudan aims to maximize mutual benefits and combat cross-border smuggling.
He indicated that discussions have been held with the relevant authorities to establish a trade port in the Joda area of Al-Jabalain locality. The delegation from the border crossings will visit the proposed area tomorrow, Sunday, to assess the project’s construction.
In this context, the Director of the General Administration of Border Crossings and Ports at the General Secretariat of the Sovereignty Council, Yasser Mohamed Osman, stated that the visit aims to conduct a field visit to several border crossings in the state.
He pointed out that the coming period will witness the strengthening of the role of the state’s border crossings, within the framework of the state’s plan aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and revitalizing commercial and economic activity through crossings and ports.
