Nairobi, March 6( Darfur24)
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – the Revolutionary Democratic Current has revealed the details of the apprehension of its leader, Yasser Arman, by the International Police Administration “Interpol” in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, at the request of the Sudanese army de facto government.
The movement said in a statement that the Kenyan authorities arrested Arman on Wednesday upon his arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to meet some Western diplomats, due to the presence of a red signal from Interpol issued by the Port Sudan government.
The movement added “Arman was arrested by the Kenyan Interpol unit and remained with them in the office until the evening, and after contacting many parties, I spoke with the Interpol unit in Kenya, explaining to them that this is a political issue and has nothing to do with Interpol and has nothing to do with terrorism or the materials and circumstances mentioned in it, as Interpol made arrangements to allow him to go to a hotel in Nairobi to spend the night”.
The statement added “based on a notification issued by the Central Port Sudan Police Station to the General Administration of the International Police, the plaintiff is Dr. Hisham Nourin Mohamed Nour on behalf of the Attorney General, specifying many articles related to terrorism, sedition, incitement and crimes against the state.”
The statement confirmed that the fabricated accusations were sought by the “terrorist remnants” regime for many years targeting the head of the movement.
According to the statement, the letter was sent to the General Administration of the International Police (Interpol) signed by Kamal Mahjoub Ahmed Saeed, after being translated at the Translation Unit at the University of Khartoum.
The Sudanese army-controlled government had previously announced a number of names of Sudanese political leaders as accused of crimes related to the ongoing war with the Rapid Support Forces, demanding their extradition through Interpol.
