Nairobi, October 26 (Darfur24)
The Sudanese Founding Alliance (TASIS) has appointed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader Idris Madallal to head its Security and Intelligence Service, as the alliance moves to establish the agency and appoint officials to key positions, sources told Darfur24.
Madallal is a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader who worked in the group’s media department for several years.
Sources told Darfur24 that the government had established the security and intelligence agency, completed its organizational structure and appointed officers to various departments.
Some of the appointees previously served in Sudan’s General Intelligence Service, while others were members of the RSF intelligence apparatus, the sources said.
The sources added that Madallal had appointed security directors in states under TASIS’s control and that they had begun their duties.
The RSF controls most of the Darfur region, with the exception of areas including Jebel Marra, Tawila and Al-Tina. It also controls West Kordofan State and parts of South and North Kordofan.
