Bir Saliba, October 19 (Darfur24)
At least seven people, including two women and three children, were killed and others injured in a drone strike on a residential area in Bir Saliba, Kalbus locality, West Darfur State, on Saturday, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
A resident told Darfur24 that the strike hit a residential neighbourhood, killing and injuring civilians.
He said residents evacuated the wounded to neighbouring Chad, fearing further attacks.
Two sources separately confirmed to Darfur24 that Bir Saliba had been bombed. The joint force, allied with the Sudanese army, has controlled the area for several months.
Abdullah Adam Abdullah, a resident of Bir Saliba, said the attack forced residents to flee to nearby areas, while others crossed the border into a refugee camp in Chad.
He added that fighting between the joint force and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensified in the area in October, after a lull of more than a month.
The use of drones by the warring parties has increased since the conflict erupted in Sudan in April 2023, with attacks targeting both military installations and populated areas across several states.
