El Fasher, May 26(Darfur 24)
Two girls were killed by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gunfire in the Garni area, accused of smuggling food supplies into El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that a member of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shot a number of women and girls riding animals near the village of Qarni, killing two of them. The victims were allegedly smuggling goods to El Fasher.
The witnesses reported that one of the girls died instantly after being shot, while the second later succumbed to her wounds at a health center in the village after being treated by RSF forces.
The witnesses added that the RSF beat the remaining women with whips, injuring seven others, before confiscating their food supplies.
They indicated that the RSF, stationed in Qarni village and led by Abbas Kater, the RSF intelligence chief in North Darfur, issued a decision banning the use of transportation between El Fasher and Qarni village. This decision is part of a tightening siege on the city of Elfashir and preventing the arrival of goods from the northern rural areas.
For more than a month, El Fasher has been witnessing daily waves of displacement to the areas of Korma and Mellit. Tawila, Kutum, and other cities in eastern Sudan have been affected by the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the lack of food and medicine due to the blockade.
