El Obeid, October 02 (Darfur24)

Five civilians were killed and 27 others, including women and children, were injured when a drone believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck the Shikan dormitory at Kordofan University in El Obeid, North Kordofan State, local sources told Darfur24.

The sources said the drone targeted the boys’ dormitory at around 11 p.m. on Sunday. The facility was housing displaced people from several areas of Sudan at the time of the attack.

The strike caused five deaths and injured 27 people, according to the sources.

El Obeid and other parts of North Kordofan have witnessed an increase in drone attacks in recent months amid continuing military operations and deteriorating security and humanitarian conditions.

The attacks have targeted civilian areas and vital infrastructure, including residential neighborhoods, fuel stations, and water and electricity facilities, causing casualties and disrupting essential services.

Darfur24 could not independently verify the drone operator’s identity.
