Nairobi, October 01 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have arrested three civilians in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, including a doctor working in the obstetrics and gynecology department at El Geneina Hospital, on allegations of espionage and cooperation with hostile entities, an informed source told Darfur24.

A relative of one of the detainees said RSF forces are questioning the three and examining their mobile phones as part of the investigation. The source said the authorities have not disclosed the evidence underlying the arrests.

According to the source, the arrests and investigations are being overseen by RSF special forces that arrived in West Darfur from Nyala and are known locally as the “Special Forces.”

The RSF controls West Darfur, where a civilian administration appointed by the group oversees state affairs while the RSF maintains control over key civilian and security institutions.

Darfur24 could not independently verify the allegations against the detainees.
